Season 6

I have just read an article on Season 6. It contained spoilers which sealed the deal. I am not going to watch Season 6. Fuck Jack Bauer. Fuckkim.

Thing is, everything the detractors say about 24 is true. It is formulaic and manipulative, and it is designed to appeal to the gut more than the brain. But in in spite of that it was fun. Suspense and surprise worked together to overcome the silliness of the show.

But for me the trick had already begun to wear thin and by Season 5 the only thing that kept me watching was Gregory Itzin and his amazing amazing proficiency as an actor. The man played the very ass off that role. He beat that role into submission and then he asked it who its daddy was. Say what you will, but he deserves every single award known to man for that performance. Everything—Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar, Nobel, Olympic Gold Medal… even the best actress awards and the PAMAs.

But for Season 6 is without Itzin, so I was just going to watch it for the hell, to tide me over until Lost Season 3 shows up and we get more of the thundering monster that is Mr Eko, (plus there is always the chance that the magic island will bring Michelle Roderiguez back to life). I was going to watch 24 Season 6 anyways, but knowing what I know now? Fuck Jack Bauer. Fuckkim.

earnest,
some beeeff! eeeeehhhh!
okay i know that there is a serie called 24 and a jack bauer and failed to understand even the season i watched so i backed out
but more coz it was so outrageously popular! i tried the 4400 and gave it up after the first season and a half coz... i read about it to the end and wasnt moved anymore
the moral is: dont read up on series or anything for that matter just go ahead and watch it like a lamb led to a slaughter house with no clue as to whether they will get breakfast or be lunch.
so earnest, be breakfast or eat it

They shd bring back Victor Drazen from the dead. Then I'll watch 24 again.

They've all lost it. 24, Lost,Prison Break, The OC, etc. The 4400 never even had it. Never had the chance to do so.

Lets all just go back to chewing our curd and being around. Or plan to rob BOU. I hear its main strong room is located right under K'la road. The spot between BATA and BOU. That area that never has Potholes.

There, I told u. Quit petty robbery. We have billions in tresury bills and bond money. Untapped cash. Loads of it peeps. We can start planning now. In 2yrs....who knows?

Somebody stop me!

enyewe how much can happen to one guy in one day? the liars. secret to watching (and trying to enjoy) 24 is never worry about jack, worry about the others. and root for the bad guy. otero never dies. and i only watch the odd serieses of 24, and it's always under duress. so i'll skip 6.

I think it's unfair when people call '24' manipulative. You would be hard-pressed to find ANY drama that isn't. Every story has some sort of agenda. There's an interview with the show's co-creator here
http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,,1995563,00.html
And you should have put a spoiler alert on the Michelle Rodriguez sentence. I've fallen behind with 'Lost' but I do intend to catch up! It's lost a lot of its fizz though. I'm with those who see 'Prison break' as the more exciting alternative....

Et tu Iwaya? Oh, and for the post lenght, New Year's resolution.

Sayid, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO EKO!?!
Wait. Don't tell me.

Lulu, be breakfast or eat it? That is brilliant. That belongs on a t-shirt.

Cheri, why are you telling everybody about the BOU vault? Now we will have to share with them.

Also, you have made me book season one. I have to see this Drazen chap. If you ever say jump off a cliff, I am dead.

@Maganoo and Goddessa, nothing ventured, you know.

@Dee, you like? You think cool and sleek and dashing?

@Heaven!, if Scoffield's boyfriend finds out...

@Modo, exactly. Logan was fire! Sherry Palmer! Marwan!

@Minzo, sorry about the spoiler. Assume I was lying.
As for manipulation, you are right. Pretty much any suspense thriller--any tv programme you care to name uses its tricks to keep us watching. Hell, even WBS got HNC (if you come to Kampala soon you will see her). But still 24 was more than usual. Even when you hate the entire cast and you want to stop watching they pull one more ka stunt on you so you watch one more episode. It is just not fair.

Eddie, you and Sayid go and watch it. Don't say I didn't warn you.

But Bass(acholi girl on the loose)

Man, that Drazen was a tough one. With his sons. He's like the chinese guys. Watched Speed-the one with the bus...and he was the bad guy again! Loved him.

Saw a documentary on the world's greatest actor sometime back...that guy (Dennis Hopper by the way)was the 10th. See?
